The advantages of pneumatic clamping shafts are:
- low weight compared to steel rod and clamping cones
- quick roll change (release and clamp using air pressure)
- pneumatic shafts do not damage the sleeve and allow its reuse
- allow the roll to be unwound up to the last turn
